Transportation guide in Barcelona

Wondering how to move around Barcelona once you arrive? This article is here to help! You’ll find out how to arrive at our accommodations from the airport, bus and train stations, and also how to find the perfect public transportation ticket for you

Barcelona public transportation counts with bus, metro, tram and trains. For more information you can check the official page of the Metropolitan Transportation, TMB:

TICKETS AND FARES:

A single ride ticket to get any public transport in Barcelona costs 2,40€.

If you are planning to take more than one ride, we recommend buying the T-Casual card, which includes 10 rides and costs 11,35€, valid for all the public transportation within Zone 1 in Barcelona. 

If you’re staying for a whole month, we recommend the T-Usual card, that has unlimited trips for 30 days, and it costs 40,00€, valid for all the public transportation within Zone 1.

These cards can be bought at any vending machines at the metro stations.

ARRIVING AT EL PRAT AIRPORT:

From Barcelona’s Airport, Josep Tarradellas (BCN – El Prat), you have the options of getting to our accommodations by metro, train, aerobus and taxi. 

 

BY METRO:

For riding the metro from and to the Airport you’ll need a special ticket, that costs 5,15€ per ride, called Bitllet Aeroport.

From inside the Airport you can take the metro from both terminals, Orange line, L9. 

Then you’ll get off on station Collblanc and change for the Blue line, L5. (direction Vall d’Hebron). 

 

To our Colivings and our apartment Traveller House, you’ll stop at station Verdaguer.

 

To both our apartments in Gràcia, you’ll stop at station Diagonal.

Both stations are just a short walk away to our accommodations. 

The ride takes about 50 minutes.

Metro Service Hours: 

 

  • Sunday to Thursday: from 5am until 12am.

  • Friday: from 5am until Saturday 2am

  • Saturday to Sunday: Non-stop service.

BY AEROBUS:

 

Aerobus is a private service that leaves from both terminals at the Airport, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. The cost of a single ride is 5,90€ and a return ticket costs 10,20€. Both options can be bought at the Aerobus stop, and also online.  You can get the Aerobus from the airport and stop at Plaça Catalunya.

From Plaça Catalunya you have the option of taking the metro, a bus or a taxi to our accommodations, just 1,5km away from our Colivings and Traveller House and 2km away from our Gràcia Apartments.

 

The ride takes about 30 to 40 minutes, depending on traffic.

BY TRAIN:

 

The train line R2 Nord leaves only from Terminal 2 at the airport. You can use a single ride of the same transportation ticket valid for metro, bus and tram, being the most economical option of transportation from the airport. 

Keep in mind that if your flight arrives to Terminal 1 you’ll need to take the Airport’s free shuttle between terminals, which takes about 10 minutes. The trains leave the Airport every 30 minutes, and it takes about 35 minutes to arrive at the station Passeig de Gràcia.

 

From Passeig de Gràcia Station is just a 10 minute walk to our Colivings and Traveller House and a 15 minute walk to our Gràcia Apartments.

BY TAXI:

 

A taxi ride from the airport to our accommodations takes about 35 minutes and costs approximately 40€, depending on traffic. Make sure you only take official taxis from the Airport service. 

There’s no Uber service in Barcelona, in case you prefer to download an app, you can use Free Now or Cabify.

From Barcelona’s main train station Sants, we recommend getting to our accommodations by metro, bus or taxi.

BY METRO:

 

From inside the station you can take the Blue line, L5. (direction Vall d’Hebron). 

 

To our Colivings and our apartment Traveller House, you’ll stop at station Verdaguer.

To both our apartments in Gràcia, you’ll stop at station Diagonal.

The ride takes about 15 minutes.

 

BY BUS:

 

In front of the train station, get line H10 (direction Olímpic de Badalona) stopping at Valencia-Roger de Llúria. The bus stop is just a short walk away to our accommodations.

ARRIVING AT BARCELONA NORD:

From Barcelona’s bus station Nord, we recommend getting to our accommodations by bus or taxi.

BY BUS:

 

Walk from the station to Arc de Triomf to get line V17 (direction Vall d’Hebron).

To our Colivings and our apartment Traveller House, you’ll stop at station Llúria – Mallorca

To both our apartments in Gràcia, you’ll stop at station Gran de Gràcia – Jesús. 

Both stations are just a short walk away to our accommodations. 

The ride takes about 15 minutes.
