LA BOQUERIA MARKET
Location: La Rambla Street 91, 08001
Open: Monday to Saturday from 8am to 8:30pm.
This market, began to be built in 1840 but was not inaugurated until 1914. We love this market due to its architecture by the famous Josep Mas y Vila, but also for all the products that we can find in it. La Boqueria is by far the most important gastronomic market in Barcelona. In it we will find fresh fish and shellfish, meat, fruits and vegetables, among others. We recommend visiting this market in the morning so you will find all the stalls full of products. Get lost in the market passages, enjoying the smells, colors and warm atmosphere that will run through your body. You will find stalls to eat and enjoy all the Mediterranean flavors.
ELS ENCANTS MARKET
Location: Carrer Castillejos 158, 08013
Open: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9am to 8pm.
In this market, you will find all the secondhand products that you can imagine. It is one of the most old and important Barcelona markets. We recommend visiting it very early so you can find worthy products. From 7 to 9 am there are auctions and the products bought can be later sold in the stalls for the same price. Many merchants close at midday if they have sold enough products. You will find a wide range of old and new products, and also handmade products made with much love by the merchants.
MARKET OF SANT ANTONI
Location: Carrer del Comte d’Urgell, 1, 08011
Open: Mondays to Saturdays from 8am to 8pm; and Sundays from 08am to 2pm.
This is the only market that you will find open any day of the week. It was inaugurated in 1882, so its building has a lot of history. The building was renovated in 2007 and it took a while because they found Roman ruins in the it.
Its building and surroundings have in fact three markets: one for food, “los encantos” and the one for books on Sundays. Our favorite is the Sunday market where you can buy products ideal for collectors, movie posters, old comics, among others. Let yourself surprise by the place’s beauty and originality.
NUMISMATICA AND FILATELIA MARKET
Location: Plaza Reial 1, 08002
Open: Sundays from 9am to 2pm
This is a different and original market. We like it because of its location and history importance. The Plaza Real was designed by Daniel Molina and you will find in it the famous Gaudi lamps and the Tres Gracias font by Antoine Durenne. It is only open on Sundays and here you will find 92 stalls that sell coins and stamps. You can also find strange products for collectors such as sugar wrappers, coasters, cava plates, among others. It is a very cozy market where you can have a nice stroll and feel you are in a collectors and antiques world.
CONCEPCION MARKET
Location: Calle Aragó 313, 08009
Open: Saturday to Monday from 8am to 3pm, Tuesday to Friday from 8am to 8pm.
We chose this market since it’s the nearest to our Hostel and Apartments in Barcelona. The architect Antoni Rovira i Trias designed this market in the Eixample neighborhood that was inaugurated in 1888. You can find food products in its more than 60 stalls.
Inside it you will also find a Caprabo Supermarket and the famous florist Flores Navarro; apart from a hairdresser’s, bars and restaurants. This market will make you experience the little village atmosphere through the different activities that are held in it.
